Plettenberg Bay is a hub for all things active. Experience what makes this the most talked-about town along the Garden Route. Whether you choose to adventure by paddle, pedal or foot, you are sure to enjoy this scenic area. Plett is one of the richest ecological regions along South Africa’s coastline, as proven by the diverse wildlife that call it home. With abundant birdlife, incredible marine life and its many animal sanctuaries and reserves, the area is easily unrivalled.
Marine Life
As the winter months approach (May – October) and the days grow shorter, the great migration of Southern Right and Humpback whales head to Plettenberg Bay to calf and follow the amazing Sardine Run along the Indian Ocean coastline. This combined with three different dolphin species, Brydes whales, a colony of seals and the occasional pod of Orca whales make Plett a year-round marine life adventure destination.
Wildlife
Plett is home to animal sanctuaries, wildlife rehabilitation centres and animal educational experiences to be enjoyed by the entire family.
